Hello, I am an SMS administrator - I've been requested to deploy the
installation of the ActiveX controls and tool for the CMS HTML Editor. I've
managed how to install the controls using nrdhtml.cab, but I cannot determin
e
where to get source files for the editor tool install. Any help or directio
n
would be MOST appreciated!

Hi Nick,

the cab file contains two dlls.
You only have to regsvr32 these two dlls on the client machines.
That's all.

Cheers,
Stefan

That's one of the joys of being in IT.....things don't work when they
should!! ;-)

The experience I'm having is as follows:

WITHOUT the .dll files preloaded -
1. IE requests to install ActiveX control "Microsoft CMS HMTL Editor"
2. After selecting to install the ActiveX control, IE then displays a
security warning about the software install and prompts end-user to to selec
t
either Insall or Don't Install
3. If "don't install" is selected, the site appears with a 'red X' in every
field and there are no ActiveX controls loaded in IE
4. It should also be noted that IE has "Microsoft CMS HTML Editor" and
"Microsoft CMS HTML Editor Toolbar" ActiveX controls listed in manage add-on
s

WITH the .dll files preloaded -
1. There is no request from IE to install ActiveX controls
2. Same as above
3. Same as above
4. Same as above

Again, any help or insight would be very much appreciated!!!

Hi Nick,

sounds as if the wrong version of the dlls are used.

Cheers,
Stefan

Thanks again Stefan, that was the problem. Oddly enough, we're using CMS
5.0.5054.0 and so the developer gave me the .dll files of the same
version....which wasn't working. Another developer gave me older .dll files
(version 5.0.5317.0) that do work now.

If there is any problem with using the older .dll, then please let me know.
Otherwise, thank you thank you thank you!

Hi Nick,

this indicates that the latest security fix for MCMS is not installed on
your MCMS server.
You should install the latest security update for MCMS on your server then
you can also use the newer version of the DLL:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/se...n/MS07-018.mspx

Cheers,
Stefan
