The problem I am having is that ALL of the sites on our server somehow lost 
the file service.lck. None of the forms work (they prompt for a user name) a
nd when I try to extend or upgrade the front page extensions, I get the foll
owing error:

Unable to open service.lck: no such file or directory.

I tried completely uninstalling and reinstalling the server extension on the
 server itself (windows 2000) but the problem is persisting.
