Hello everyone,

I'm looking for the freeware alternative to Legato NetWorker. Most
important features:

- ability to manipulate tape libraries / jukeboxes
- ability to stream data from multiple clients onto multiple drives in the
jukebox -- simultaneously
- ability to define tape pools and backup groups

Which alternatives should I consider, for example, is Amanda worth looking
at, and does it have any of the above required functionality?

Amanda can definitely do 1 and 2 above. I'm not sure exactly what 3 means,
so I can't comment. I currently use amanda to backup 5.5TB of formatted
space to an Overland LibPro loader with 2 AIT3 drives. I run two
configs simultaneously, one for each drive. It has always worked very
well for me.

While the description of Amanda's capabilities and features seems pretty
slim, Bacula seems to be what I'm looking for. I'll definitely be checking
it out, if I can get it to compile. Thanks.

While I'm at it, anybody else have any suggestions on software I should try,
while I'm still in the eval phase?
