Question on the SNIA Level 1 test objective "Names of protocols
currently mapped to Fibre Channel"
The following two books give me a diferent take as follows.
Storage Area Network Fundamentals; Gupta
This book splits them into channel and network:
The channel protocols supported by the FC-4 layer are:
Small Computer System Interface (SCSI)
High Performance Parallel Interface (HIPPI)
Intelligent Peripheral Interface (IPI)
Fibre Channel Link Encapsulation (Fibre Channel-LE)
Single Byte Command Code Set (SBCCS)
The network protocols supported by the FC-4 layer are:
Internet Protocol (IP)
ATM Adaptation Layer-5 (AAL-5)
IEEE 802.5
----------
Building SANS with Brocade; Beauchamp, Judd and Kuo
This book makes no such distinction.
Small Computer Systems Interface (SCSI)
Internet Protocol (IP)
Virtual Interface (VI)
Intelligent Peripheral Interface (IPI)
High-Performance Parallel Interface (HIPPI)
Fiber Distributed Data Interface (FDDI)
Would someone shed some light on what the SNIA considers "Names of
protocols currently mapped to Fibre Channel" ?
Thanks!
Regards,
R. Damian Koziel
