I have a web server that is running a smtp virtual server on dmz. I am
trying to get this to forward all mail from my web application to my
exchange.

I have setup with in properties/advanced smarthost with [ip address] but
the mail does not get to exchange.There is nothing in route,bad ,queue
mail folders on either servers.The mail has not been delived....???

Can anyone shed some light.MANY THANKS

If there's nothing in the logs on either system, and there is no file
in the queue or badmail folder, then the most likely explanation is
your code is never sending anything to the SMTP server.
