Yes i have already done that...........
let me tell in detail what i have done.........

first I installed portalserver 5.0.2 with appserver5.0.2
Then i configured it with oracle and novell edirectory.
then i need to upgrade the portal server to 5.0.2.1
so i applied fixpacks for appserver and upgarded the appserver to 5.0.2.3...
.
Then to install the fixpack of portal server,
I stopped portalserver and appserver and HTTP server also
then i ran fixpack for portal server ...n i got the message that fixpack ins
talled successfully.
Then i started the HTTP server.
Then i executed the WPSconfig.bat command......but it failed  on 29th of 33 
tasks...........
i tried to find out the reason but not getting it..so plz help:-(
