I have tried to set up a webserver using Windows XP Prof.
edition. IIS with Frontpage server extensions option
enabled has been installed to the web server.

However, when I use FP2003 in another client PC to
activate remote web site property, I can only use ftp
option to connect to the web server. When I try to use
http option, the error message says that the remote
server does not have the FP server extension and
sharepoint services installed.

It appears that even though I have installed the IIS + FP
server extensions WinXP Prof, the remote client cannot
detect this?

Pls advise how to solve this problem? How I can install
Sharepoint service as well in Windows XP? And where in
Windows XP can I activate the FP Server Extension
administration function for proper configuration to make
remote publishing of web pages via FP2003 using http
option work properly?

Tks..

1. After setting up the web server, can you access directly from FP on the s
ame machine?

2. Can you access the default web via IE6 from this machine as well as the r
emote machines?

3. If yes to the above, have you create a user account for the remote PC via
 FP can connect to this
machine and you may have to create a host file with the name and IP address
of the machine with IIS
and copy a copy to each machine that needs to connect to IIS. Do a search fo
r host.sam file for
instruction of creating the host file.

4. The IIS server with Windows XP Pro is intended to use for development dir
ectly on the machine it
is installed on.

5. Windows SharePoint Service are only available with Windows 2003 Servers.
