I am using Frontpage only as an editor to create web pages
in HTML View and each time I try to save the page, I am
prompted with Name and Userpassword. If I hit the Cancel
button, and again try to hit the Save button, it sometimes
saves, but not sure whether it is doing so properly.
Sometimes, it is annoying to be prompted each time when
hit the save button. Can anyone please let me know what
may be the problem?

You need to have a web / site open, not just a page. FP is really not a stan
dalone HTML page editor,
it is a complete web site management application.

Ofcourse! I meant only website. Sorry if I didn't explain
properly. I open the website thru Frontpage, i.e., go to
Start - Programs - Microsoft Frontpage - File - Open Web -
website folder - open particular file and that is when I
get this prompt when I try to Save the file after an
update or when creating new file.

With FP closed, search for and delete the following hidden/system *.web file
s, as well as the FP
temp folder. Then open FP and do Tools | Recalculate Hyperlink command.

Also run ScanDisk and Defrag and you have done so recently.
