I'm with you. I've aged 10 years trying to get FP to work
properly.  I have a Tripod site and things work fine on
it. I then set up my own .com site and have endless
problems.
I can't find the correct links, then spend hours
downloading what I think is correct only to get error
messages which don't make any sense!
I'm about reading to trash FP and go with Dreamweaver or
some other WYSIWYG program, it surely must be easier than
FP!!
