Ted,
I also had this problem. I was not able to resolve the warning, however ple
ase let me explain how I believe this error to occur. I had an earlier vers
ion of FrontPage installed (FP97). I then installed VB6.0 with the associat
ed programs. When I starte
d to program in ASP, I started to get these errors. Of course, I also insta
lled MSDE for the VB6.0 and ASP programs. As you know MSDE installs a versi
on of SQL. From the look of things, SQL also uses port 80. This is where t
he conflict arises. To go
further, I took advantage of Microsof's offer of viewing videos about .NET a
nd recieved a free issue of Microsoft Visual Basic .NET Standard. I install
ed this and had the same problem. Whenever I would load a ASP.NET page, I w
ould get the error showing
up. I would push "cancel" on the error several times and the program would
load within the ASP.NET framework. After working with ASP.NET / Visual Basic
.NET I decided to install FP2003. I purchased the upgrade and installed it.
I soon found out that the
error (port 80) prevented several items within FP2003 from working (Like dow
nloading a web to a server). After searching the MSKnowledgeBase for soluti
ons, I thought re-loading FPServerExtensions may help. I did this and it di
d help. I am still gettin
g the error, and I still have to press cancel several times to eliminate the
error; however now I can load the pages to my server and they work correctl
y. Now I have Microsoft SharePoint Administrator installed by downloading t
he FPSE. I don't know if t
his will help you or not, however, perhaps this will direct your efforts in
another direction and you may be able to resolve this issue.
