Actually Google saved the day again with this answer:
Problem: In a distributed environment, ensure that you install SQL Server An
alysis Services Decision Support Objects (DSO) COM object and SQL Server Ana
lysis Services with Service Pack 3a on the BizTalk Server 2004 Runtime compu
ter. You must install the DSO component on the SQL Server 2000 computer host
ing the Star Schema database. Otherwise, your configuration fails. The follo
wing error message appears in the Configuration Wizard:
Deploying BAM infrastructure:
Failed to set up BAM database(s).
Failed to instantiate DSO object. Please make sure DSO is installed and func
tional. COM object with CLSID {B492C386-0195-11D2-89BA-00C04FB9898D} is
either not valid or not registered. Click Retry or Cancel.
Resolution: You must install DSO, delete any databases created during config
uration, and then re-run the Configuration Wizard.

I am installing Biztalk 2004 on Windows Server 2003. SQL 2000 w/ OLAP is on
a remote machine it has SP3 applied to both.
After installing Biztalk and going into the configuration and using the defa
ult options and pointing it at the database server and entering in the accou
nts to use it pops up the following error: COM object with CLSID {B492C
386-0195-11D2-89BA-00C04FB9898D} is either not valid or not registered. Wit
h a retry and cancel button, hitting retry then pops up this error: This ser
ver has already joined a group. To reconfigure the server, type the followin
g syntax at the command prompt:
ConfigFramework.exe /u. With a retry and cancel, hitting retry just pops up
the same message and cancel rolls back the installation.
Can someone please shed some light on what the problem could be here? There
's no indication as to what that COM object is that isn't registered or vali
d. I have attached the last part of the config log file below and highlight
ed these errors.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. (sorry for the cross post)
