We've built a .Net based site with Custom Commerce
Modules on a Win2K3 + VS 2003 + CS2K2 (SP2 + FP1)
Environment and it works fine too..

I deployed the site on a Windows 2000 (SP4 + patches)
Frameworks 1.0 (SP2) + 1.1, Commerce Server 2K2 (SP2 +
FP1) environment and I find that the Custom Commerce
Modules are fired on every request !!!! unlike in Win 2K3
where they are executed once (through the application
lifetime). This is casuing the application response to be
very very slow (since all inits are redone for every
request)

Is there some permissions w.r.t IIS 5 and the environment
that I could have overlooked ? Pointer, possible causes
for this behaviour..

All I can imagine is that something is causing the application/app domain
to be reset on every request.  E.g. if something was writing to web.config
this could happen.  Have you looked for any strange things like that?

We certainly have tested the CommerceModules thoroughly on W2K and W2K3
alike and have never observed this behavior.

As part of the site I have the custom commerce modules I=20
developed which are only .Net components (I ensured I=20
registered them in the 1.1 GAC not the 1.0 GAC and used=20
the regasm in 1.1 framework directory)..

possible cause ?

Could you give me an example of what might be writing into=20
web.config ?

Sorry, I really have no idea.  And I have no explanation of why it would
happen on one platform and not another.  Are you using any particular virus
scanning or deployment tools that could be affecting the file timestamps?

If my theory were right (and that's a long shot) that the web.config file
was being touched somehow, I suppose you could use a tool like filemon
(http://www.sysinternals.com) to track that down.
