Hi,

I am new to Websphere and I need to install it in order to write JSR
168 portlets. But my attempts so far have left me pretty frustrated.

I started by downloading and installing WebSphere Portal - Express
Plus for Multiplatforms, V5.0.2 but I couldn't find how/where to start
with JSR 168 portlets.

Googling around I found out about Portlet Toolkit V5.0.2.1 But its
install requires Websphere Studio Site Developer V5.1.2 - which is not
even mentioned in the Express Plus I downloaded...

Anybody can point me to some list/guide of which components I need
installed and how they connect to each other?

1) What's the difference between WebSphere Studio Application
Developer and Site Developer?

2) What is WebSphere Portal (for Local Debug) / Test Environment and
how do I get it?

3) Do I need the IBM WebSphere Portal - Express Plus for
Multiplatforms, V5.0.2 in this scenario at all?

Portal Test Environment is a main feature of Portal Toolkit and it's a
private
development environment of portlet.  On this environment, you can run and
debug your developing portlet.  You do not have to set up a WebSphere
Portal production server for testing your portlets.

Portal Test Environment is set up on WebSphere Studio.  You need to
install WebSphere Studio first, then Portal Toolkit next.  Portal Test
Environment will be installed during the Portal Toolkit installation.

Minimum.  V5.0.2.1 would be best.  You can upgrade V5.0.2 to V5.0.2.1.
