I am using IIS 5 with Front Page server extentions (2000) on a Windows 2000
Advanced Server.

I am trying to connect to the website using Visual Studio .NET 2003 and an e
mpty web folder on an existing site.

Anytime it tries to connect to the web server, I get a generic 500 error. I
read the knowledge base and found an article that mentioned execute permissi
ons on one of the _folders and I checked that. Gave global Everyone execute
permissions but it did not resolve the issue.

It never makes it to the login prompt nor do I get to the point where it com
plains about not being able to open the site and asks if I want to connect u
sing FP extentions. (I had it working for a while and it just quit on me)

Since this is not a web browser issue, show friendly errors will not help.

I did remove (add/remove programs) the extentions and re-installed them as w
ell as removed the extentions on the site and re-installed them. I thought m
aybe a firewall issue and opened my PC up to the DMZ on the router. No luck.
I also have this problem on a commercial web server that I web host on.

Any help or advice would be great!
