Hi

When I do a search on FP 2003 website I get all the
public content but not the password protected content on
the. Would it be possible to include that item in the
search. They way I have created the password protected
section is create a sub-site and put a password for
browsing.

Thanks

The FP search is limited to the site it was created in, it will not include
content within subsites,
password protected or not.

Thats pretty useless will there be a fix for this
since users cant find content on subsites
and FP doesnt handle large web sites

Using indexing services, the host can create a catalog on Windows hosted
sites to customize the search to cover both the root and subsites. Don't
know if it will pull anything, though, from a password protected site.
You'd have to test it.

That is just using the search bot and the search template. You can
also use the Query Object Search, and the ADO search. However, you
will only see materials for which you have been granted permissions to
see.

You also have to grant the Indexing service access to the site. It
usually runs on a system account, so as long as the system account has
access, the Indexing should be able to make a complete index of the
site.

See the following page:
http://www.outlookbythesound.com/Le...ver/L5_Home.htm

for links to brief introductions to the Query Object and ADO search
methods. Be advised that these intro pages contain links to materials
in the Indexing documentation in the MSDN SDK. They no longer work, so
you will have to search the current MSDN SDK library by hand to find
the relevant materials.
