Hope someone can help me on this...

Small Business Server 2000 - Exchange 2000
Exchange Virtual Server working fine, however I need to install 3rd Party
AntiSpam product. New application requires changes to Local Domains to be
made to the IIS5 SMTP Snap In. This is not visible in IIS5.

I have checked articles re : regsvr32 the smtpsnap.dll. This has not worked.
I am aware that Exchange 2000 install can overwrite IIS5 SMTP Service
SnapIn, but does anyone have any ideas how to get this back?

You can't.  It's either Exchange or the snap-in, but not both

Why can't you make the changes in the SMTP snap-in that's in Exchange?

Does the "regsrv32 c:\winnt\system32\inetsrv\smtpsnap.dll" fix just apply to
Win2003/Exch2003?

The 3rd Party application requires that you need to create the Local Domain
in IIS SMTP and this is not available in Exchange2000.

No - it just applies to Windows Server 2003.  In Windows Server 2003, if
Exchange 2003 is installed, you won't have the SMTP tree either

I'm not sure how you would work around if your application needs that.  Is
the application supported on Windows 2000 with Exchange?

Gents/Ladies,
I have a problem with SBS Server 2003. Users are sending emails to the
outside world, but they never arrive.

I have checked the Exchange System Manager, and it seems that the
"Default SMTP Virtual Server" is not available. When I go into the
SVR001->AdministrativeGroups->Servers->SVR001->Protocols->SMTP and try
to create a new virtual server, it refuses to go past the point where
you choose the ip address for the virtual server. I select the {All
unassigned} option, and it jsut comes up telling me that the server is
not operational.

Can anyone help?

Just want to check my understanding of basic architecture too... If a
user inside is wanting to send an email outside, then the email does
come through the Exchange server yes? And the the SMTP Virtual Server
sends it? I've never had to understand this before....

G'day

Well, I'll answer my own question.

Something buggered up on the "Default SMTP Virtual Server" on the
Windows SBS 2003 Exchange Server. The "Default SMTP Virtual Server"
virtually disappeared.

Then I downloaded the Service Pack 1 for the server, installed it, then
all I had to to was reconfigure mail server in the "Forward all mail
through this connector to the following smart hosts" under the
"SmallBusiness SMTP Connector", under "first routing group" under
"Routing Groups" under "first administrative group" under
"Administrative Group"....

I hope this helps someone else, and prevents the agony I went through.
Its the simple things that bring us simple Aussie country boys down!
