I am trying to install FPSE 2002 on a clean install of
IIS 6, but am having access problems. When I try to
configure the extensions, it asks me for a password. I
give it the Administrator username and password, but it
still tells me 'access denied'.
Any ideas?

Where did you get the version of FP2000 extensions that you are trying to in
stall?

If from the MS Download site, then you can not install them! You can only in
stall the FP2002
extensions come with Windows 2003, on the Windows 2003 CD, and which think i
s automatically
installed with choose to install IIS 6, but then you have to actually config
ure them.

I installed the version that came with the Windows CD.
I had this working before a format of the system after a
disaster. I am also running the most recent 2.0 beta of
the .NET framework on the server. After configuring IIS
a few minutes ago to only user ASP.NET 2.0.40607, I no
longer get a login window, but now just get my IE window
full of jibberish that looks like part of the
fpadmdll.dll assembly or something like that.
I'm getting pretty confused, here

I ran the type command on that file from the command line
to test my theory and it was identical to what I am
seeing in the browser window. Seems it's spitting
fpadmdll.dll up as a text file for some reason. I can't
even configure the extensions at all.

I still need to be able to configure the FPSE, and I
can't do that. When I try, all I get is a login window,
but it doesn't accept any users I try (not even the
admin). Trying to "check server extensions 2002" on the
default site gives me fpadmdll.dll as if it were a text
file. It's really giving me a hard time

Sound like the installation of .Net screwed up the FP2002 install.

General rule, never install betas on production PCs.

I generally don't, but wanted to get any testing done
with it before the school year started (a school's
website runs on the system). It had worked fine before,
but then we had a disaster that required a new
installationg of Windows. After that, it has been less
than cooperative. The site works, but it cannot be
accessed from VS.NET any more.
PHP is also no longer working properly on everything,
which is strange, but I'll post that in the IIS area.

You might try the IIS group to make sure that IIS is indeed installed and ru
nning correctly, then
the extensions, then vs or php depending on which is the most important.
