SDO export resources, 404 error for sdo file |
 |
 |
|
|
07-28-04 11:10 PM
Isn't Site Deployment fun?
This week I am getting a 404 error when I try to export
the Resources from one of my MCMS 2002 Enterprise servers
(Win2K SP4 OS).
Exporting Channels and Templates works fine. I have local
admin rights and am running the Site Manager locally. I
am using a seperate site for import/export to avoid
web.config or global.asa issues.
The export preview works fine. Watching the process I can
see the xml report file gets created in rdonlyres. The
temporary directory gets created in temp and populated
with files. The temporary sdo file gets created in temp.
Then all the stuff from temp gets deleted BUT the new
temporary sdo file never appears in rdonlyres. Site
Manager then returns a 404.
I checked the IIS logs and it showed that Site Manager
was looking for the temp sdo file in rdonlyres when it
got the error. I checked the XML report file and Windows
Application Event Log and they seem to indicate that the
whole process was succesful.
There is plenty of disk space and it works fine, as I
said, for Channels and/or Templates. The temp resources
sdo file in temp is about 400 Mb. The temp templates-and-
galleries sdo file is about 290 Mb - don't know if this
makes a difference.
** ANY IDEAS as to what could cause the process to fail
to create the second temporary sdo file in rdonlyres? **
Thanks
Adam

Hi Brigee,
please post the part of the IIS log showing this.
It seems you disabled one of the http verbs in IIS MMC relevant for site
deployment (e.g. the POST or GET verb) for this specific application
extension (e.g. ASPX).
Cheers,
Stefna.

Hi Adam,
as indicated the POST request is not allowed for ASPX extensions.
Please
- open you IIS MMC,
- right click on your web site
- select properties
- choose the "Home Directory" tab
- click the "Configuration..." button in the Application Settings section
- look if the ".aspx" extension is listed here.
- select the ".aspx" extension in the list
- click the Edit button
- check the Verbs section.
- ensure that POST is listed in the list of allowed verbs in the "Limit to"
line.
If ".aspx" is not listed in the section then ASP.NET is not correctly
registered on your web site.
Then follow the hints in this article:

Hi Stefan
Yep, done that. My rdonlyres folder is a virtual
directory. I am not running Windows 2003.
What's next? It works some times but not others. The
temporary SDO file is created in temp (and then deleted)
but not in rdonlyres or the specified destination.
Thanks
Adam
