Hi,
I have still problems to install the latest update of the BTS2004 help file
(see postings below). It's also very strange, that the publishing dates of t
he help file has changed three times within a week (7/23/2004, 7/27/2004, 7/
28/2004). For the latest ve
rsion (7/28/2004) there seems to exist an additional problem: The different
language versions are all the same English version (File Name BTS2004(EN).ex
e).
Thanks for any help!

Thanks for your answer. The value of that reg key is "m;1;D:\GERMAN\BTS2004D
EV\Msi\". This path points to my local DVD volume from which I installed BTS
2004. The MSI-File is located in this directory. So I don't really know what
 to change. I could install
the former Help Update from April 2004 without problems.
Any more ideas ?
Thanks!

Hi,
I just downloaded the latest update (7/23/2004) of the BTS2004 Product Docum
entation (BTS2004 Help) and tried to install it. During installation I was p
rompted to insert a data volume, but no further information was displayed (t
he position where this info
rmation should be displayed is blank!). I tried already to insert the BTS200
4 DVD, but no chance to resolve this problem - I can only cancel the install
ation.
Thanks for any help!

Ewald

I'm was having this very same problem. I can't tell you *why* this worked,
but I did finally get this in.

I kept getting the same dialog you described that asked me to insert a disk,
with just an "OK" and "Cancel". No way to tell it where to look.

I changed the registry key below, as described by Jack, but I had to copy
the MSI directory to my hard drive and rename the .MSI file.

Here are the steps --

Registry Before:

LastUsedSource="m;1;D:\ENGLISH\BTS2004DEV\Msi\"
PackageName="MICROSOFT BIZTALK SERVER 2004.MSI"

Registry After:

LastUsedSource="m;1:C:\DATA\MSI\"
PackageName="BTS2004.MSI"

I then copied the *entire* MSI directory to "C:\DATA\MSI" and renamed
"MICROSOFT BIZTALK SERVER 2004.MSI" to "BTS2004.MSI", just in case it didn't
like the spaces.

I reran the patch and while it still didn't run correctly, this time I got a
different dialog which had a "Browse" button that allowed me to go point it
at the BTS2004.MSI. Everything ran to completion. Note to Microsoft --
pretty damn sloppy coding.

This is obviously a hack, so proceed at your own risk.

Regards,

M.

Hi Michael,Ewald,

I've had the same problem installing the 28-July version of the help
update. The installer prompted me to 'Insert The Disk', despite it
being there. The registry hack and msi-copy solved the problem, but it
still reported afterwards the installation had failed. However, after
examining the log files, it's just because it tried to delete a file
from c:\windows\installer which doesn't exist. Apart from that, it
went smoothly. I must agree it's surprising Microsoft haven't tested
this properly.
