The MCMS folder "Microsoft Content Management Server\Server\rdonlyres"
overflows with thousand of images. About ten thousand of them appears
to be attachment icons from word documents in postings. Why does mcms
make ten thousand of the same images?

An other problem is that there are a lot of old documents that are no
longer used in the postings. How do i delete these old files?

Greetings,

Joost

That is correct.
If the same image is stored in several different documents of the site as
local images and not as resource gallery items than MCMS treats them as
different images - actually MCMS does not know that it is the same image if
being viewed.

You should ensure that common used images are stored in the resource gallery
and ask your authors to use the resource gallery items rather than local
images in their documents.
This will keep your repository and your disk cache small.

Cheers,
Stefan.

Thanks, stopping and starting the services worked. Most of the files
where gone. All files that where left are likely to be old local files
that aren't in use anymore.

What happens to an existing posting with local images when I change
the template settings and don't allow local images anymore... I guess
they will be deleted on save??? Is that correct?

Greetings,

Joost
