Installed CS2002 on Win2K3, MDAC 2.8. Attempted to install
CS2002 SP2 and got the following error:

Microsoft Commerce Server 2002 WARNING: A failure
occurred in CA_UpgradeCondition() on
c:\thorium\private\setup\ca_dll\admin.cpp:37. The error
code is -2147024770, and the description is:
The specified module could not be found.

Tried to repair, reinstall and remove CS2002 and get same
error each time. Cannot find anything on the internet.
Anybody got any ideas?
Cheers

Hi Gary,

Can you look in the
%SystemRoot%\system32\
folder and ensure that a file called "csboot.dll" is there?

If it isn't, then, there is some problem with your installation.
If it is there, run
regsvr32 csboot.dll
on the dll.
If that fails, then some dll that this file depends on is probably missing.
You can run Dependency walker (http://www.dependencywalker.com/) to see
which dependency is missing and then install that file.

Do these steps before installing Service Pack 2.

That should fix the problem. Hope that helps,

madhur

Madhur

Thank you very much for your response. Unfortunately I
decided to rebuild the box before reading this. I had come
to the conclusion that the install was bad but couldn't
remove it or do any thing with it. However I will take
note of your advice as it may prevent further rebuilds
should this issue occur again.

Had the same problem again. I checked C:\winnt\System32
for csboot.ini and it not exist. Again I could not remove
the install. I copied the above file into the above
directory and registered it. This allowed me to remove the
install. I then rebooted to ensure the install was gone
and reinstalled OK! Don't know why it keeps doing this
though?

I assume that you are referring to csboot.dll (not ini).
I am not able to determine why/how csboot.dll is getting removed from
System32.
Is it possible that something external to Commerce Server is causing this
to happen?
Are you running repair on windows? Did you reboot after uninstalling (if
required to do so)?

Thanks,

madhur
