We want to customize the 'Edit my profile' functionality to capture user pre
ferences(for personalization) and use them for serving appropriate content.

One problem with 'Language' preference is that portal refers to language att
ribute of LDAP. Our ou=people schema is read only and we want to keep it tha
t way. While we are saving other attributes in database (oracle), we are som
ehow not able to save language values of language. 

So, questions are:
- How to make portal save language attribute save in database and ignore the
 one in LDAP completely
- Is there any problems to this approach from translation server and resourc
e bundles perspective while serving the content in different languages
