Hi all,

I just finished installing FC1 on an older Compaq with
a VGA monitor. It boots into the GUI mode just fine.
But when I open/start a program, sometimes the
window is too big and the bottom of the window is
covered up by the task bar. Some of the buttons are
hidden by the bar so it makes navigating sometimes
difficult. Is there any way to make the task bar at the
bottom of the screen disappear and reappear when
I need to?

thanks,
charles.....

You didn't say what GUI you were using. I'm using Gnome, and I had a
similar problem. My comments for Gnome may work for you, too...

You can right-click the panel (toolbar), and then select properties. Then
you (hopefully)get a dialog box that has several options, including "Show
Hide Buttons". "Hide Buttons" are these places at either end of the
panel, that you can click to cause the panel to slide either right or
left, as though rolling off the screen. That uncovers whatever's hidden
by the panel. So check the box that says, "Show Hide Buttons", and you
can then click them to move the panel out of the way temporarily.

Hope that helps...
