I just installed the trial version of Commerce Server on a Windows 2003
Server box. The install seemed to have gone fine. My problem is that when I
open the .NET 2003 compiler, I don't see the Commerce Server project type
when trying to create a new project.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

J

Commerce Server Eval edition does not support Visual Studio 2003 natively.
You have to apply Commerce Server 2002 Service Pack 3 to enable this
functionality.

Hope that helps,

Can you make sure that you did all the below steps in the order specified:
1. install vs.net 2003
2. install commerce server
3. install commerce server sp3
4. fix up all the *.vsz files in the Commerce Server directory (and
subdirectories) as below:
a. Start Notepad, and then open each of these files.
b. Replace the %CS2002PATH% variable with the path of Commerce
Server. For example, Drive:\Program Files\Microsoft Commerce Server 2002\.
c. Note Replace Drive with the location where Commerce Server is
installed.
d. Remove the %CS2002LOC% variable. This variable is automatically
taken care of by Microsoft Visual Studio .NET.
e. Note Do not remove the "\" character together with the
%CS2002LOC% variable.
f . Replace the following text: Wizard=VsWizard.VsWizardEngine with
the following text:Wizard=VsWizard.VsWizardEngine.7.1

Hi,

I have the same problem: can't see the Commerce Server Project Type. I am
unable to follow these steps to fix because I do not have a .../Commerce
Server 2003/VS directory -- the VS directory is simply not there, and there
are no .vsz files to be found!

I first installed Commerce Server 2003 Developer Edition on my XP Pro
computer, and then installed SP3. I have uninstalled and reinstalled SP3 to
no avail. Any ideas?

Thanks

Crispix

That is strange indeed.
Are you sure that you selected the "Developer Tools" feature (and the
"Developer Portal" sub-feature) when you installed Commerce Server on your
machine (to do this, choose custom install and select the features, or
choose full install)?
If you did, there must be VS folder (and a VS2003 folder if you have
Service Pack 2) under the "Program Files\Commerce Server 2002\" folder (or
the custom folder where you installed Commerce Server to - pointed to by
the %COMMERCE_SERVER_ROOT% environment variable).

Hope that helps,

madhur
