im trying to use convert.exe so i can convert what i
thought to be a fat32 drive to nfts, but when i run it, it
says the drive i'm trying to convert is raw. Is there
anyway to convert the fat32 drive to ntfs without
reformatting and losing all my data?

I am having a similar problem, and I already tried converting. When I do it
says it's already NTFS. Mine is 160GB WD, and when I check the drive propert
ies, it says file system is RAW, and the capacity is 0 bytes. This WAS my ba
ckup drive, and I just reloaded my system and can't lose any of the info fro
m the drive (about 40GB worth!!!). Also checked the BIOS, and it's reading t
he drive correctly, and in disk manager it is reading my drive correctly and
says it is active, but the file system is reading blank. XP Home on C:

You'll probably do best to send it to one of the drive recovery services.
