We configure a port to send messages to a web service. I dont see how a web
service would be listening to a port. Why not use a windows service instead
of a web service?

Thanks

Hi John,

A port is just a name for a part of the pub/subscribe mechanism of BizTalk
Server 2004 (see http://blogs.msdn.com/Biztalk_Core_Engine for more
information). It could just as easily have been named something else. A web
service is ofcourse not listening on a specific port (well, the parent
process is ofcourse...), so the "port" doesn't signify a TCP or UDP port
number, but rather is a name for outgoing or incoming messaging elements.

HTH,
