Question is this normal??? Got an email from AH with the following updated
TOS:

---
Terms of Service section changes:

Before change: "We reserve the right to send announcements, invoices,
occassional renewal and promotional offers pertinent to your hosting account
and domain name with us. "

After change: "We reserve the right to send announcements, invoices,
occassional renewal and promotional offers pertinent to your hosting account
and domain name with us. You agree not to report these messages as spam to
spamcop or any other similar service. Doing so may be considered grounds for
termination of your account."

---

So I guess my question is "We reserve the right to spam you, you can not opt
out and if you complain we can terminate you"
normal for a hosting account?

So my question is this... anyone know of a cheap webhost that will let you
opt out of everything but invoices?

I do webhosting for reasonable rates, and I'm rabidly anti-spam :-)

GoDaddy, I think. I just switched over a few hobby hosting accounts, and
aside from bobbles from the losing registrar (where they were not already
at GoDaddy), all went very well. I'm quite happy, and the sites are very
snappy. I haven't had them long enough to tell if they would send spam, but
I really doubt it. If I did get one, I'd look at my settings first.

<Shrug> What's the big deal ? It's promotional material from your own host,
so you'd be
getting - what, maybe 5 messages a month, max from them, including your invo
ice ?

Besides, if they sent too many of these 'internal' types of promotional mess
ages, there'd
be enough complaints from their users to force them to tone it down.

Its a "renew early and get 3 free months"...and we send it out approximately
every other month. We generally run it after we start getting requests from
customers asking "When are you going to run the next 3 free months
promo?!?".

If you want to host with us, you agree to our terms. If you don't like it,
don't sign up with us...we won't go bankrupt, that's for sure. ;-)

Well why in the hell don't you just send the promo to the ones who ASK for
it? Or put it on your web page? Or hire a skywriter?

She treats AWW as her own advertising space. There for a while she treated
it as a support place to.
