Maybe, but it must also be totally airtight, and stay that way for
a hell of a long time.

After the fire, your room is full of steam and all sorts of crap from
the fire. The nice cool, well, cooler, interior of the fire safe is
just the place for it to condense out, forming HCl and foo knows what
else from the fumes. This does not help media. Not even a little bit.

So go down to your local supermarket and get a pile of food storage
containers, sized to suit your media and scheduals. Get different
colours, one per day if you like. Do *NOT* save money here please!
Put a tape/media set in each. For backup, remove the container, do
backup, seal it up and replace in fire safe.

After the fire, remove containers, wash down with a Bicarb solution,
then 1% acetic acid, rince well, dry off then remove you data and
start recovery.
