we are using CS2K and ASp is used to read and display the contents of
catalogs and User Roles from CS2K,
here i want to know what exactly this Publishing do?
And i have a task of Mimicking Bizdesk Functionality, so for this can i
directly use Publishing API's to mimick the same.

Any help on this will be appreciated.

The Publishing button refreshes the runtime caches on the site, rebuilds
the custom catalogs and also regenerates the freetext indexes for the
catalogs

By running the following URL, you can achieve the same functionality
as of "Refresh" button in "Bizdesk -> Catalog Editor".

http://yoursite/BDRefresh.aspx?cache_name=CatalogCache

This might help you in finding more details about mimicking bizdesk
functionality.
