Hi guys, I'm asking this over here b/c I got no response from the
debian-boot list. I downloaded a sarge-net-iso a couple days ago and I
was wanting to change the kernel to 2.6.8.1-mm2 so I could make my root
fs reiser4. I've got this doc to go on which is also in the
debian-installer source:

[url]http://d-i.alioth.debian.org/svn/debian-installer/installer/doc/custom-kernel.txt[
/url]

I get lost between step 1 and 2. I made a kernel deb with make-kpkg.
The doc refers to a package called "linux-kenerl-di-i386". I think
maybe it's referring to udebs but I have no idea how to configure this
in my sources.list or how to handle these.

Is there any documentation on udebs anywhere? I couldn't find any on
the website.

There is extensive information in the Subversion repository for
Debian-Installer, see http://www.debian.org/devel/debian-installer/ . You
probably won't want to hack an existing ISO image, you want to build your ow
n
d-i (with new kernel udebs, and a partman-reiser4 udeb), and then use
debian-cd to make your own netinst image.

You may want to refer to debian-boot@lists.debian.org or #debian-boot on
Freenode (irc.freenode.net) for more help and information.

You may be interested in my dfsbuild package, which is designed to make
it very easy to make a custom CD.

I've posted on debian-boot list but had no response. I've been to the
Debian Wiki and the Alioth project page and checked out the code from
the svn repository but I haven't been able to find any info on creating
udebs or what their structure is supposed to be.
