Can Norton Ghost version 9 read/use image files that were originally
created by Drive Image version 7.0?

According to the review in PC Magazine Norton Ghost 9 is able to use
image files created by Drive Image.   Here is a link to the review:

This begs the question: are there *any* differences between Ghost 9 and
Drive Image 7?  Is Ghost 9 just DI7 in a new box or has it been enhanced
in some way?

Supposedly, it has been enhanced to perform incrementals - I'd suspect it's
the followon version of DI7 more than Ghost 2003.

-Drive Image 2002 <> Drive Image 7.0x
-Norton Ghost 2003 <> Norton Ghost 9.0

I recently purchased Ghost 9.0 after using DI7 previously.  Yes, it IS
essentially Drive Image 8.0.

It reads DI7 images, the program, and interface is the same, the setup
and scheduling is the same.

However, it DOES have the new incremental images after first creating
a base image.  That is the new feature.  I also tried the stand-alone
boot cdr which works. It appears that it can create the network
interface (if needed) on the fly, but I haven't tried that.

I've never used older versions of Ghost but everything seems to work
smoothly in Ghost 9.0

Actually it is enhanced as to which drives it supports... my Iomega Rev
drive was not supported under DI7... Norton Ghost 9 supports it fully - even
booting off the CD.
