Google  groups has all the posting but when U post it on Google it won't
be instant, perhaps due to high subscription - whereas if I use my ISP
and SW and post it, it will be instant.

There is NO issue of backing up of indivivual posting - but there is a
backup if individuals subscriptions to NGs.  Everytime you redo the OS
installation, you will also have to redo the subscriptions to NGs - this
is what I am trying to avoid by using the right software.
