ok, channels are stored in a SQL database and not in the file system - only
the template files are stored on the file system but never access via a URL.
So I assume that w3.mydomain.edu/[channelname] is a channel url and not
something on your file system. Correct?

To get this working you need to enable the map channel name to host header
feature in the SCA.

Please be aware that the files on the file system are completly unrelated to
the Url you are entering in the browser! The mapping is done by the
templatefile property in the template gallery item the postings is build on.
