I was provided a Western Digital USB 2 / Firewire exernal disk
drive (250GB) to do some testing on Linux (Redhat 9) but I cannot
get started good.
I put on all the latest 'up2date' fixes and at least the system now
recgonizes that I have a USB controller on it. In /var/log/messages:

If I try to: fdisk /dev/sda
I get a "unable to read..." message.
Any suggestions how to get this device available?? I'd like to to
put a standard filesystem on it and be able to mount /umount as required...
