Hi...
I have a D-Link DFL-80 VPN Firewall setup at our office. It connects
to the internet via a Speedstream 5100 DSL modem from SBCGlobal and
connects to our network via a HP managed switch. Our network is a
Windows 2000 based network with it's own DHCP Server, DNS, and Domain
Controller. The private address is 172.16.2.0/255.255.255.0. From
home, I connect to the Internet via a D-Link DI-624 Wireless DSL
Router that connects to an Alcatel Speed Touch Home DSL modem. I am
presently running ZoneAlarm Pro (v. 4.5.594.000).

After initially setting up the DFL-80, I was able, via PPTP, to
connect to the VPN using XP's built-in VPN Client. However, I was not
able to browse the network resources. In trying to resolve this via
changes to both the DI-624 and ZoneAlarm (I assumed that, once
connected, any resource browsing issues were 'firewall' related...
perhaps I was wrong), I am now at the point where I can't even connect
anymore. When I try to connect, I finally see the 'Verifying username
and password...' dialog box, then ultimately the 'Error 619' dialog
box telling me that 'A connection to the remote computer could not be
established...'. The last time I received this message, I was able to
correct it with changes to the firewall settings. This time, I'm
stumped! No changes I make to either the DI-624 settings or the
ZoneAlarm settings seem to work.

I guess I need know what, if any, rules should be added to the DI-624
Virtual Server/Application/Firewall settings and/or to the ZoneAlarm
settings. That would be my baseline. After that and after being able
to, once again, establish a VPN connection, I could use help
determining why I can't browse the network resources. But first I
have to be able to log on and connect to the VPN!!!

Any help would be very greatly appreciated as I've been struggling
with this issue for almost a week now.

Thanks in advance,

Clem Patafio
