WSRP & JSR168 support in WPS |
 |
 |
|

Hi :
Which version of WPS can support WSPR & JSR168 ? I want to deploy my own
JSR168 Portlet into WPS5.0.2 . But failed .
I install WAS5.0 , then upgrade from WAS 5.0 to WAS 5.0.2 . Then I
install WPS5.0 and upgrade from WPS5.0 to WPS 5.0.2 . This is my enviroment
. But I failed to deploy the JSR168 Portlet into WPS5.0.2. I have changed
some configuration.
a.. For JSR 168: portal.enable.jsr168=true
a.. For WSRP: portal.enable.wsrp=true
But the deployment failed also .
Is it my WPS version's problem?Which version supports JSR168 ?Which
version supports both JSR168 and WSRP?
Please give me some advice.
Thanks.
Jacky

Why do you want to run JSR168/WSRP on WP5.0.2?
The JSR168 support on WP5.0.2 was "Technology Preview" and it seems
information about this preview in Developer Domain has been replaced
to point to WP5.0.2.1, which offcially supports JSR168 and WSRP.
It also says to use JSR168/WSRP on WP5.0.2.1, WAS must be 5.0.2.3.

Thanks , Kessler , I want to ask another question .
Now , I install WAS5.0 , then upgrade from WAS 5.0 to WAS 5.0.2 . Then I
install WPS5.0 and upgrade from WPS5.0 to WPS 5.0.2 . This is my enviroment.
As you had said , Should I install as this sequence . install WAS5.0 , then
upgrade from WAS 5.0 to WAS 5.0.2 , then upgrade from WAS 5.0.2 to WAS
5.0.2.3. Then install WPS5.0 and upgrade from WPS5.0 to WPS 5.0.2 .Finally
upgrade from WPS 5.0.2 to WPS 5.0.2.1.
This enviroment should support JSR168 and WSRP. Is it right?
Thanks.

I don't know if it is possible to upgrade WAS to the final
level and then install WP.
If I remember correctly, what I have done previously was;
1) install WP5.0 using installer, which installs both WAS5
and WP5.0.
2) follow WP5.0.2 fixpack installation guide:
upgrade WAS to 5.0.2, apply interim fixes to WAS,
then upgrade WP to 5.0.2.
3) follow WP5.0.2.1 fixpack installation guide:
upgrade WAS to 5.0.2.3, apply interim fixes to WAS,
then upgrade WP to 5.0.2.1
But do you really need to stick to 5.0.2.1?
If I were you and you have passport advantage, I would
rather download WP5.0.2.2 installation images and install
it. There are full 5.0.2.2 installation files which installs
WAS 5.0.2.6 and WP5.0.2.2 automatically. -- Only in case you
don't have running portal to maintain, of course.

Hi , url :
I want to get the installation instruction of WebSphere Application
Server 5.0.2 Cumulative Fix 3 from
http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docvie...=utf-8&lang=en.
But the readme file link is still unavailable .
Does IBM cancel this downloading url? I am very confusing.
Where do I get the instruction from ?
Thanks.

hi,
i recommend to update to the most recent version of WAS which is 5.0.2.6
(for the most recent version of WebSphere Portal 5.0.2.2, WAS 5.0.2.6 is
very recommended!)
I would suggest to download the Cumulative Fixpack 6 for WAS. Inside the
Zip-File you will find an update instruction (but in fact, you just have to
start the updateWizard.bat and to provide the path to your WAS-installation
in the wizard.
ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/software...502_cf6_win.zip
and for WAS Enterprise
ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/software...pme_cf6_win.zip
hope that helps,
regards, Tino.
PS: my installation went as follows (Windows 2000):
1. Installing WAS 5.0.0 and WPS 5.0.0 using IBM's installation disks
2. stopping http-server
3. Updating WAS to 5.0.2 (first standard and then enterprise (PME))
4. Updating WAS to 5.0.2.6 (first standard and then enterprise (PME))
5. restarting http-server
6. Updating WPS to 5.0.2 (don't forget to run the configuration task after
installation)
7. Updating WPS to 5.0.2.2 (don't forget to run the configuration task after
installation)
8. enabling WSRP and JSR-168 in configservices.properties
done.

Hi:
now , I deploy JSR168 compliant Portlet in WebSphere Portal Server
5.0.2.1,I can see the view mode , but when I click edit mode,It shows "This
portlet is unavailable. If the problem persists, please contact the portal
administrator" .
So I think maybe I loss some configuration to enable Edit mode.
I can guarantee the doEdit method is correct.Because I deployed it in
WebLogic Portal. It can show edit mode normal.
Can you tell me how to enable Edit mode?
Thanks.

you enable the edit-mode in the portlet.xml-file
<portlet><supports><portlet-mode>edit</portlet-mode></supports></portlet>
but i think if you can choose the edit-mode in the portlet, is is enabled
already. so maybe there are some problems in your code.
regards, tino.
ps.
i did use WebSphere Studio Application Developer 5.1.2 and Portal Toolkit
5.0.2.2 (including integrated test environment WAS 5.0.2.3+ and WPS 5.0.2.1)
to create my portlet.
using the wizard to create a jsr-168 compliant portlet you can choose to
include edit, help and config mode. i included all of them and it works
fine - in the integrated test environment in WSAD as well as in the
production portal.

Because it works in another JSR168 container, then your portlet must be
written to support edit mode.
To enable edit mode, all you need to do as an administrator is to
assign proper roles, but since you can enter edit mode, this is
already done.
My suggestions are to check Limitations section in
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/pvc/w...tations
to see if any of limitations affects your portlet, and check
portal log file to see whether your portlet throws any exceptions.
