I'm pulling out what is left of my hair with this one...

I'm using Fedora Core 1, kernel 2.4.22-1.2174.nptl, KDE 3.2.3-6.5.1.
Here is the relevant XF86Config section:

Identifier "Keyboard0"
Driver "keyboard"
Option "XkbRules" "xfree86"
Option "XkbModel" "pc105"
Option "XkbLayout" "us"

I get the same problem using three different keyboards:

Dell Wireless
MicroSoft Wireless
GE PS/2

The left <Shift> key intermittently fails to actually shift. For
instance, in a text editor, I can hold down the shift and any other
key and keep them held down, and as the characters display across the
screen, some will be capitalized and other won't:

 ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzZZZzzZZZ
ZZZZzzzZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

As you can image, this is driving me crazy!!!

Having used three different keyboards and experienced the same bug, I
am certain the cause is not hardware.

If anyone has any clue at all to how to fix this, please let me know.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Kevin J

You have not tried using a different computer. Your system BIOS is involved.
Do you have the most recent BIOS flash upgrade, if this is applicable?
Ironically, and typically, you describe everything except the most likely
cause of the problem: the computer itself.
