Hi,

1) I set up SMTP and POP3 on Windows 2003 without any
problems.

2) Followed clear instructions found at
http://www.ilopia.com/Articles/Wind...r2003/EmailServ
er.aspx

3) I have Broadband Connection and no static IP so added
record at ZoneEdit.com

MailServer
mail.myname.co.uk handles mail (1st) for domain
myname.co.uk

4) Configured DirectUpdate utility to update IP address

5) Test "nslookup myname.co.uk" succeded

6) Configured POP3 and new Outlook email account for
mail.myname.co.uk

7) Sent email from my ISP Web based client. Got it in my
outlook box! Was very excited!

8) Replied to it by got "The following recipient(s) could
not be reached: xxx. None of your e-mail accounts could
send to this recipient." instead

9) Have been trying to fix email disaster myself for 2
days now, no success and thats VERY SAD. After
reinstallation SMTP disappered from IIS snap but i found
solution after reading posts.

10) I do not intent to relay spam, just would like my
friends receive mail from myfirstname@mysecondname.co.uk
instead of myfirstname.mysecondname@ISPprovidername.com

11) Why after restarting computer I have two entries in
domain section under Default SMTP Virtual Server:

Domain Name Type
myname.co.uk Local (Default)
myname.co.uk Local (Custom)

The second custom entry has empty drop directory and cant
be removed.

Thank for reading, I've never expected that setting
mail server would be more difficult than web server. Hope
nobody experienced such a SMTP suffering as I had (and
still have).

Probably your ISP has the port blocked to prevent you from running an
SMTP server (an anti-spam measure.)
