Does "Update Web References" serve a useful purpose in an orchestration?

In other words, if you have a web service "wire up" with send/receive shapes
in your orchestration, then you want to change a return-type of a parameter 
-
does it rebuild the multi-part messages?

Also, we deleted a web reference, and saw the port go away and then
multi-part messages go away.  We then remade the web reference and were very
surprised to see that messages were still "wired" okay, and connections
between receive/send shapes and ports all came back.  It was late tonight,
maybe we were dreaming...
