Hello all,
I am TOTAL new to MSCMS concept... We have been
using RENOVO by Webhawk(developed using cold fusion back
end).... Now we want to move to the MSCMS : -
a. Why? Because we want the back end
technologies to use ASP.net.. especially whenever we want
to have the dynamic content on our website.
b. I have however some doubts: -
1. Our current website is having the
ONLY the static content which we are able to manage
reasonably well ... without much of support from IT
personnnel. But soon we may be required to have the
dynamic webbased applications need for our website.. and
in future B2b applications as well.. My question is: by
shifting(migrating) to the MSCMS.. what advantages we will
have?   So far as the static web content is concerned..
that we are able to manage from the current CMS as well..
And when it comes to dynamic content like ASP.net web
applications AND XML webservices... what role MSCMS has to
play? (I mean we can develop ASP.net web based
applications and XML webservices without MSCMS as well..
What advantages does this provide to the content creators?
2. MSCMS does it provide any help in
Back end (database) maintenance for webbased applications?
3. How does MSCMS help mange /create
content of the dynamic webpages in ASP.net (if not what
extra role does it play)... Similarly for XML Web service
as well?
4. Can the search and index facilities
be provided for static web content using the MSCMS?
5. Is it necessary to integrate the
MSCMS with the share point server for
management/maintenance of static web content...
6. Can the integration with share point
server /Biztalk server be planned for future? if this is
to be done in phases?
7. What roles do the templates play in
managing the webservices etc.

c. I know these are too much and too
immatured questions and if there is a better place for
these questions... (if answered already)... please suggest
me that as well..

Hi Raj,

.NET templates can consist of dynamic (eg. from webservices/back office
systems/webforms etc.) and pieces of CMS content.

CMS will manage:
1) site structure
2) Security to the pages (you will need to build in your own business logic
/ security for your applications that will be included via MCMS
3) workflow for the content on the pages
4) caching of resources etc.

Search resources are not included; see the previous post but you can use
SharePoint or MondoSoft or any other search engine that crawls pages.

MCMS can be integrated with SPS via the Connector for Sharepoint
technologies and BizTalk as well.

understanding the concept.

me...

Hi Raj,

So you want to be able to mix your content managed content with Dynamic
content from webservices/xml etc?

By embedding your applications in the Templates for MCMS you can give
content creators the power to move the applications to different points in
the channel hierachy; maintain content on the pages that the application is
included in; secure the channels that the application is viewed in using the
build in CMS security.
