Hi,
I couldn't find any Newsgroup that would fit perfectly for my problem. I
only found one, where people wrote with signs that I couldn't read ;)
But maybe you can help me...

My problem is, that whenever I pause XMMS, and repress the button,
nothing happens. The Counter sometimes jumps a few seconds forward, but
he neither resumes playing nor makes any sound...

Also, sometimes he just plays very strange, like there's a break every
1/100 second for a short time.

In both cases I have to stop the song and start it again...

thanks for any suggestions...

Hi

I tend to use Jukbox these days, but I fired up good old xmms and tried out
what you suggested on a Beatles' song. Paused, repressed, and it played as
it is expected to.

What distribution and version of xmms are you using ? Is your sound card
well supported under Linux ?

XMMS Version is 1.2.10 and I'm using ALSA sound on my Intel OnBoard
Sound (my /proc/pci says it's Intel Corp. 82801EB/ER (ICH5/ICH5R) AC'97
Audio Controller (rev 2)) and works very good with every other application.

I recently installed a software mixer for ALSA and shortly after that,
this behaviour appeared...

I experienced this problem with ALSA output. The solution was to disable
mmap-mode in the advanced settings of ALSA output plugin.

Just in case it's a scheduling problem, I patched my kernel with Con
Kolivas' patchset and now use SCHED_ISO for xmms (invoked via schedtool
-I -e), this absolutely ensures XMMS running without any glitches for
me.

Greets, Felix
