What is the best piece of software to backup mp3 files ?
I would like it to be file by file backup/restore. Verify option would
also be a pkuss

Zip format backups are not good because mp3 files do not compress very
much.
The drivebackup utility I have only backups up partitions and disks

You can use the mirror backup type from Backup4all,
http://www.backup4all.com it will allow you to practically copy your mp3s to
CD/DVD or a hard drive.
