I'd like to access my home network from my work and other such places.
I currently do that using an SSH kludge but it is inconvenient and I'd
rather like to be able to connect more directly to the home network.
Basically, it seems that running a VPN server on my home router is what
I want, but there's another side to the problem: I need to be able to access
that VPN server with luser-only client software because I don't have root
access on some of the machines from which I'd like to connect.
It seems that what I want could be something like a SOCKSv5 system, but it
is important that the connection between the client (at work) and the server
(at home) is encrypted.
Also, the server should be small and free software (I'll have to compile it
for my ASUS-WL500g home router).
Any recommendation?
Stefan
