Hi,

I need to do a real-time inventory check against a database connected to the
commerce server via BizTalk server.

In what form can I request a query against the database? Should the commerce
server send an XML file to BizTalk server? If yes, then what should be the
format of the XML file so that it can be understood by the BizTalk server?

And in what format will the BizTalk server send back data, and what APIs
will the commerce server use to save this data into its own database?

Any input is greatly appreciated.

In CS2002 there is no "Inventory" system built into the product. That's
not to say you cannot build these components yourself. E.g. you could use
the adapter framework in Biztalk Server to build an adapter specific for
your inventory backend.

Precisely this scenario is under active investigation for inclusion in a
future release of Commerce Server, so stay tuned.
