a) Does the MS SMTP/POP3 Server have a "POP3 Connector" - no (MS Exchange
Server does). If your current mail server logs into POP3 mailboxes on your
ISPs server, and downloads mail to local POP3 mailboxes, then equivalent
functinality doesn't exist in MS SMTP/POP3 Server. On the other hand, if
your current mailserver using ATRN (Authenticated TURN) to access and
download mail for your domain, then MS SMTP/POP3 server will be able to do
this.
b) Does MS SMTP server support Smart Host functionality - yes. This allows
your MS SMTP server to either directly deliver mail to remote SMTP
servers -or- forward all mail to your ISP's SMTP server who will then
deliver mail outwards
If you want a more flexible mail server, take a look at www.mailenable.com
Even the free version has a lot of nice features, and it's been rock solid
for me.
Cheers
