I just wanted to share this since I looked all over the net for an
answer to this and it wasn't anywhere.

My software/configuration is:

Windows XP SP2
DSL PPPoE using DLink ASDL modem
Nortel Extranet Client v4.65(using secureID card and ACE
authentication)

I was getting the problem where you were logging in thru the Nortel
client and it looked liked it was going to work until you get to
'Checking for banner...'. It stays here about 10 seconds and then you
get the message that the connection was lost. This is a consistent
problem.

After looking all over these groups and on DLink's support page,
trying to open all kinds of ports(IPSec 500, 9500 and others), I could
never solve this issue.

It turned out that the VPN I had setup in my 804HV was interfering
with my connecting to my office's network via VPN. You just have to
disable the damn thing.

On the Home tab in the Admin, click the 'VPN' on the left and uncheck
'Enable' for VPN.

I hope I saved someone a couple of hours of trial and error.

Vince
