We are planning to migrate to a new server with windows 2003
installed.  But our site uses SQL2000 and site server 3 commerce
edition.  I read an article from microsoft site that windows 2003
server does not support site server 3.  Our server admin told us that
site server 3 functionalities has been incorported in windows 2003.  I
am a bit confused, I thought site server 3 will be replaced by
commerce server 2002.  Could you please help?  Is our server admin
correct? if not, should we go for Windows 2000 server instead?

When Site Server 3.0 was discontinued, many of its functions were split off
into different products. I'm not sure what function your admin feels is now
part of Windows 2003. Commerce Server is the web storefront replacement for
SS3. Other functions were moved into SharePoint, Application Center, and
Contet Management Server. The Personalization and Membership functions look
like they will re-appear in .NET 2.0.
