Hiya, basically someone enabled FTP on our ISS server but forgot to take off
 anonymous access. All of a sudden our disk space started dissapearing!

Anyway yesterday I found out we've had someone scan the server and have had
people uploading rubbish to it.

I'm unable to delete the files and folders that were uploaded.
Looking at the folder in explorer it appears as a blank name

In the log file it appears as "+++++++++++"

I cannot rename it or delete it

the whole path to where the files are looks like:

/+++++++++++/+++prn.hsp.laserjet+++/++++com6++++++/+++++nul+++/++lpt8+++/upp
ed+by+C********/

I've heard that using "com#" locks folders aswell?

another example of a path is:

/wwwroot/images/maps/pdf/ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
+ /++++++++
+++++++++++com2/+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++k/

how can i get rid of all this? it wont even let me delete the files that are
 within the folders

Your help & time is much appreciated and thanks in advance

Spencer

Forgot to mention we are running Windows server 2003 with IIS6

Stop the FTP service, delete the file you want, fix the permission problem,
start the FTP service again

I was tagged with a directory that had no name. I'm assuming the tagger use
d
control codes when naming the folder. The only way I was able to remove it
was to move all the valid folders until only the folder with no name
remained. Then I opened a command prompt and cd'd to the folder 2 levels up
from the no-name folder.  I used "rd {parent_folder_name} /s /q" comman
d on
the parent folder to the no-name folder.

I hope this helps someone.
