I have port 20-21 enabled on linksys router. I get the following message:
An error occurred opening that folder on the FTP server. Make sure you have
permission to access that folder.
Details: 200 type set to A.
227 Entering Passive Mode(192,168,168,2,31,148)
426 Connection Close; transfer aborted.

The FTP server is on SBS 2003. The client computer is WIN XP Pro.

Make sure that under Tools>Internet Options>Advance Tab the "Use FTP
passive..." is not selected. Also, make sure that you are connecting to the
proper IP address. You cannot use the private (class c) address to connect
from the "outside" world. You have to use the IP of your router/firewall/WAN
connection. Hope this helps.

Thanks very much for the help. "The Use FTP passive..." was checked.
Unchecking made it begin working immediately. I appreciate your help.

gary.

Unchecking the Use Passive... made it worked once but then it quit working
again. I tried to look at what Bernard wrote, but it doesn't seem to apply
to the problem.

Any other ideas?
