We have to have IDENTIFICATION of user from client. Normally authentication
setup on squid will require username informations from client. Authenticatio
n methods like NCSA, PAM, LDAP, mysql etc used on this. To make Transparant
authentication , Directory Server, NTLM authentication is used.

IF you don't want to use authentication methods to get username informations
then client must have identd server to give username informations to SQUID
proxy server.

Let me know if you need more informations.

HTH.
